Anvil Authors Hone their Craft at the 57th UP National Writers Workshop

Anvil authors (L-R) Patricia Ngo, Palanca-winning poet and author of Blanket/Kumot; VJ Campilan, fictionist and author of the Madrigal-Gonzales Best First Book Award-winning All My Lonely Islands; and Noreen Capili, fictionist, scriptwriter, and author of the National Book Award -winning Buti Pa ang Roma, May Bagong Papa; finished their sessions Tuesday at the ongoing 57th UP National Writers Workshop in Baguio City.

Panelists include National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera, Professor Emeritus Gemino Abad, poet J. Neil Garcia, fictionist and artist Jun Cruz Reyes, among others. Previously dedicated to helping up-and-coming writers, the UPNWW was reformatted in 2006 to mentoring mid-career writers. The workshop aims to help writers who have already published (or are on the verge of publishing) a book, or have won major literary awards, to further hone their craft. This year’s workshop began on Easter Sunday, April 1, and will end on April 8, Sunday.
